International
NEPAT at Northwestern University
Finally, we can disclose that between June and July of this year, our coordinator Maria Visconti will be in Evanston, in the United States, taking an intensive course on the Holocaust at Northwestern University! 🎉
Maria received a fellowship from the Holocaust Educational Foundation of Northwestern University (HEFNU) to be part of the 2023 edition of the Summer Institute on the Holocaust and Jewish Civilization.
We are sure many good things come from this exchange: ideas, partnerships, and future projects. And we'll show you everything!
We are very grateful to HEFNU for giving us the opportunity to have this international contact again, and we thank all of you who follow our work and cheer for us!
Capítulo em História Digital
We are thrilled to share that we were invited to write a chapter for an international collection on Digital History last year! 🎉
We will participate in elaborating a volume of the series "Studies in Digital History and Hermeneutics" that DeGruyter will publish with a chapter on the mediation of Holocaust memory in Brazil through social media. We will talk about NEPAT's work on the internet and the podcast, thinking about the methodological aspects of Public History and Digital History.
The collection will bring articles from the conference's "#Connected Histories: Memories and Narratives of the Holocaust in the Digital Space" participants. The conference happened in Vienna last year, and we presented NEPAT's work via video.
We have yet to set a release date for the book, but we will deliver our chapter in April 2023. We will keep you posted on the progress.
We're beyond happy and very excited about this! 🚀
Lessons and Legacies Ottawa
We're pleased to announce that our coordinator Maria Visconti is going to participate in the Lessons and Legacies that will occur in Ottawa, Canada, in November 2022.
Maria will be presenting in a panel about teaching the Holocaust in languages other than English and the trip will be fully funded by the Holocaust Educational Foundation of Northwestern University (HEFNU).
We're beyond happy and very excited about this! 🚀
Research Grant
We're pleased to announce that our project "Forgotten voices: a study case of Holocaust memory in Brazil" was awarded the 2022/23 Sharon Abramson Research Grant from The Holocaust Educational Foundation of Northwestern University and the 2023/24 Summer Institute fellowship! 🎉
This project will investigate the roots of the lack of a Holocaust memory culture in Brazil, analyze the current mass culture knowledge of the topic, and, as a possible outcome, offer educational possibilities to start overcoming this problem.
We will dedicate one year to conducting this research and the results will be published here and on our podcast. Stay tuned!
We're beyond happy and very excited about this! 🚀
Routledge Handbook
We are very happy to share that last year, we were invited to write a chapter for one of the most important editorial collections in the international market! 🎉
We will participate in elaborating the Routledge Handbook on Auschwitz-Birkenau with a chapter on Auschwitz and Holocaust memory in Brazil.
The collection aims to summarize shared understandings of Auschwitz-Birkenau and ongoing debates and highlight recent scholarship about Auschwitz-Birkenau and its legacy.
We don't have a release date for the book yet, but we will deliver our chapter later this year, and we will keep you posted on the progress. To carry out this chapter, we are preparing research that involves many work fronts, both online and offline.
We'll be talking more about that over the next few months, so stay tuned!
We're beyond happy and very excited about this! 🚀
